At Cream o’ Galloway we farm in a way that prioritises biodiversity. Take a walk along our nature trails and you should spot an abundance of wildlife.
Our planted hedgerows and maintained dykes provide a haven for wildlife and create important habitat for birds, small mammals and insects. We no longer use pesticides or herbicides so wildflowers thrive in our pastures and offer safe refuge to countless bumblebees, dragonflies and butterflies. In our native woodland you might even catch sight of a flash of red as one of the endangered red squirrels darts up a tree.
Our farm is teeming with life and we have worked with environmental organisations to record and document the species that are found on our farm. Following species surveys two large areas of our farm were designated as Local Wildlife Sites, a nationally recognised designation for areas of land that are especially important for wildlife. Here’s what’s been spotted at Cream o’ Galloway so far!
